Khulna Shipyard was established in the best tradition of steel boat construction in the year 1957. Since 1957, KSY constructed and repaired various types of ships and craft e.g. tugs workboats and other commercial craft to standard design. Since then, KSY has built and repaired more than 2000 vessels. Khulna shipyard is currently committed to the design and new building of a wide range of tugs, workboats and other specialized vessels and cargo vessels with a dead weight of 2000 tons.

Alongwith ship building and repair, KSY is also providing its technical support to various industries such as jute mill, textile mill, sugar mill, cement factory, power sector etc for repair, maintenance and fabrication of their vital machinery. It includes globe digester, condenser, roof trusses, chimney, mooring buoys, pump, suger mill roller, refrigerator, cooler, electric motor, engine, crane, caisson gate, sluice gate etc. KSY recently manufactured Foot over Bridge in Dhaka and a lot of wastage container for Dhaka City Corporation
